02Project Background
The Ministry of Energy and Water is the ministry responsible for electricity and water affairs in Lebanon. Announcements published by the ministry record that its Electricity Regulatory Authority began the pilot phase of the permit application model for distributed renewable energy projects in July 2026, advancing the institutional framework for solar photovoltaic generation on the distribution side. The solar street lighting procured under this notice is a public lighting application powered by photovoltaics.
UNDP Lebanon implements support programmes in the energy and infrastructure sectors in Lebanon, and public lighting equipment is one of the items procured under them.
