02Project Background

The Benban Solar Park already hosts more than 1.6 GW of PV and the share of renewables is rising fast, driving strong demand for peaking capacity and fast frequency response. Standalone storage is a priority in Egypt's national power development plan.

The project is located next to the Benban complex and connects to the existing 220 kV substation. EPC and long-term O&M are tendered separately so that the employer can lock in lifecycle service pricing and performance guarantees.
