DEWA is the supplier of electricity and water in the Emirate of Dubai and is responsible for planning, building and operating the transmission and distribution networks. In DEWA's published account, its work follows the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, which target 100 per cent of Dubai's power production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050.
A rising share of clean energy in the generation mix, together with continued growth in electricity demand, requires grid-side equipment to maintain a corresponding level of reliability and availability. The 132/11 kV and 400/132 kV substations are key nodes of the Dubai grid, and the dependable operation of their protection relays determines how quickly faults are cleared and how continuous supply remains. This tender replaces the protection relays at existing substations, together with the associated modification, testing and commissioning work, and falls within the scope of grid asset renewal and improved operational reliability.
