02Project Background

The City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality is a metropolitan municipality in Gauteng Province, South Africa, responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of infrastructure including electricity supply, distribution and public lighting. Public lighting forms part of the municipal electricity function, and the procurement and replacement of luminaires is managed by the Energy and Electricity Business Unit.

Compared with conventional light sources, LED luminaires offer higher energy efficiency and longer service life and are widely used in the renewal of lighting on municipal roads and in public spaces. This tender is a three-year as-and-when framework supply arrangement intended to meet the continuing demand for LED luminaires arising from the construction and maintenance of the municipal lighting network.

The notice states that the 80/20 preference points system applies to this tender, that the advertising period is 30 days, and that attendance at a compulsory briefing session is required.
