02Project Background
The Niger Smart Villages for Rural Growth and Digital Inclusion project is financed by the World Bank with USD 100 million, was approved on 8 July 2020 and is scheduled to close on 30 June 2027. Its objective is to increase access to mobile and broadband services in rural areas and to bring digital financial services to selected underserved areas.
Under a Mobilizing Finance for Development approach, the project develops connectivity for approximately 6,092 villages with a total population of about 1.9 million that lack any form of telecommunications coverage, together with digital financial inclusion measures. Multi-service digital centres are the delivery points for public digital services in rural areas under the project.
This procurement covers solar power equipment for 32 multi-service digital centres, comprising supply, installation and commissioning. The related General Procurement Notice was published in the Nigerien newspaper Le Sahel on 22 September 2026.
